How EQHekademia built Akadem1k: from a Telegram Mini App to the App Store and Google Play

Published

The first version of Akadem1k opened with a single button in a Telegram chat, with nothing to install. Today it is an app on the App Store and Google Play, a web version in the browser and the same mini app in Telegram. Akadem1k is a mood journal with an AI assistant for developing emotional intelligence, developed by EQHekademia OÜ, a Tallinn IT company that builds AI agents and AI assistants for companies in Estonia.

Why not start with the App Store straight away?

Because the first version had to reach people quickly. A Telegram mini app opens right inside the chat, with no installation and no wait for store review: a person taps a button and makes their first entry in the mood journal.

For a product that depends on a daily habit, that is the real test - will the person come back tomorrow or not. So Telegram was used to test behaviour: retention, how clear the questions were and how long the entries were.

EQHekademia follows the same order in client projects: first an audit or a prototype that shows what AI delivers, and only then investment in a full system. With Akadem1k, the company put that order to the test on itself.

What was added once Telegram alone was no longer enough

A web version in the browser and apps for iOS and Android. All three entry points sit on one foundation - the EQH platform: the Telegram mini app, the web platform and the AI assistant. That explains the release order: first whatever can be tested faster, then whatever has to pass store review. You can find every entry point at akadem1k.app.

Each entry point has its own role:

  • Telegram mini app - opens in the chat, with nothing to install;
  • web version - works in the browser on phones and computers;
  • App Store and Google Play apps - can be found through store search and live as an icon on the home screen.

Why a mood journal needs an AI assistant

It replies to the user's entries and helps them make sense of how they feel: a person describes what happened and gets a response based on their own entry.

This part of the work turned out to be the easiest to carry over. The same approach - AI that reads a person's texts and gives a relevant answer - underpins AI agents and AI assistants for companies: answering customers, processing requests and documents, searching internal knowledge. The difference is the source of knowledge: for the app it is the user's entries, for a company it is its own documents and processes.

The AI core of such an assistant is built on the company's context and stays with the client.

Does this path suit every task?

No. A Telegram prototype works well when what needs testing is how people behave, and speed matters more than form.

When the task sits inside the company - requests, documents, record-keeping - the starting point is an audit: we look at processes through data exports, without access to your systems, and find the places where AI saves time. The result is a solution with an estimate; the report stays with you even if the project goes no further.

Only the person running the project sees the data, and only anonymised data goes into AI tools.

What companies in Estonia get from this development work

Working examples and proven techniques. EQHekademia OÜ (registrikood 17483439, Tallinn) builds AI agents and AI assistants for companies, implements AI tools and does custom development: CRM systems, Telegram bots and websites with automated request handling. Correspondence, documents and interfaces are in Estonian, Russian and English. The founder and developer is Andrii Ruban.

In short, an app in two stores starts with a version that someone can open with a single tap. If your task is similar, there is one step to take: open Akadem1k and see the result from the inside, then describe your task using the form on the website.
